Bobby Atkins of Stonington, Connecticut, is a Warehouseman Working Leader at General Dynamics Electric Boat. His Professional Career 

Electric Boat

Bobby joined Electric Boat in 2020 and earned the position of First Class Warehouseman after demonstrating strong performance and expertise in warehouse operations, logistics, and material handling. He currently serves as a Working Leader, overseeing daily warehouse operations, supporting team efficiency, ensuring safe, organized workflow, and training new employees. Bobby also gives presentations and was selected as the Department Safety Leader, reinforcing safe work practices, leading safety protocol meetings, and helping maintain compliance in the warehouse environment. He is widely recognized within the company for his consistent reliability, leadership, and commitment to high-quality work in highly technical, time-sensitive Navy submarine production. He earned the titles of First Class Warehouseman and Working Leader.

Seaside Beach Club

Prior to Electric Boat, Bobby Atkins of Stonington, Connecticut, worked at Seaside Beach Club for seven years. He developed a broad skill set in construction, maintenance, inventory, and customer service. His responsibilities included overseeing all inventory of essential items for beach club operations. He ordered and stocked materials for all kitchen operations and worked as a laborer on demolition, construction, framing, and trimming/finishing on new and existing buildings. 

Walmart

He also worked at Walmart in Rhode Island for a year, where he checked shelf inventories and assisted customers by checking inventory not yet displayed. He stocked shelves, unloaded trucks, organized material, and gained experience in inventory management. Additionally, Bobby assisted customers and developed communication, teamwork, and leadership skills. 

His Education

Bobby attended Stonington High School, graduating in 2016, and attended the University of Connecticut’s Avery Point in Groton and Mitchell College in New London. 

Community Involvement

Growing up in the Stonington/Pawcatuck community, Bobby not only developed a passion for basketball and teamwork from a young age but also became known for his dedication, competitiveness, and community focus. He supports youth basketball programs and local sports events, volunteers for community activities through the YMCA or the Stonington Community Center, and participates in recreational leagues that promote teamwork and local engagement.

On the Court

Bobby Atkins of Stonington, Connecticut, played basketball in middle school, high school, college, and adult leagues. He has been highly recognized for his talent and performances. While in middle school, he and his team were undefeated during the 7th-grade season (13–0). Bobby also played on the Stonington Community Center Travel Team during 7th and 8th grades, and with the CT Breakers, CT Warriors, and CT Stars through 9th to 12th grade. 

At Stonington High School, he was the team captain during the 2015/2016 season, received an MVP Award and the True Bear Champion Award, was an Eastern Connecticut Conference (ECC) All-Star, and played on the Westerly Community Credit Union Holiday Tournament Varsity All-Tournament Team in 2015. At UConn Avery Point, he was recognized with the Most Improved Player Award in 2017.

Bobby played for the YMCA Adult Basketball League from 2020 to 2024 and the Electric Boat Athletic Club (EBAC) “B” Division Basketball and was MVP in the 2024-2025 season.

Bobby was also a basketball star while attending high school in Stonington and brought his talent to Electric Boat’s team, where he earned the EBAC “B” Division Basketball MVP for the 2024–2025 season. 

In addition to basketball, he played on the Westerly Town Softball League from 2023 to 2025 and with the Electric Boat Athletic Club Softball team from 2022 to 2025.

His Hobbies and Interests

Bobby’s interests go beyond basketball and recreational league sports. He enjoys weight training and staying active with various fitness programs. He also enjoys outdoor recreation and adventure travel, going out West with family in an RV, exploring national parks, hiking trails, scenic campsites, and taking local camping trips to state parks and nature reserves. Bobby also loves visiting Disney World.
